Five-star comfort for every guest.
The Kings Head has welcomed people since 1615, first as the Naked Boy and later as one of the oldest public houses in the Chelmsford area. We restored and reimagined it in 2022 as a private house for groups, with the scale of a venue and the privacy of a home.
Kitchen, dining and lounges
A long dining table seats the whole group. The kitchen has four ovens and grills, a large induction hob, two dishwashers, a full-size fridge, freezer and wine cooler. Two lounges, the snug and the formal lounge, give everyone room for slow mornings and films.
Sleep beautifully.
Panelled headboards, crisp white hotel linen, gowns, slippers and towels laid out for every guest.

Bridal Master
Ground floor, with an ensuite everyone talks about and its own garden access. Made for getting ready together.

Village, Garden and Vanity Rooms
Panelled headboards, white hotel linen and two soft plus two firm pillows per bed.

Family Room, Parts One and Two
Room for families and friends to share, with single and double beds side by side.

The Vanity Room
Lit mirrors, hairdryers and seats for getting ready together. For bigger groups it converts to sleep two more.

The soaking tub
A 1.5m deep tub in the Bridal Master, with a champagne trough beside it.
